Water Operator
Job Description
A water operator performs a variety of tasks in maintaining and operating the RTW system. This position is responsible for ensuring that the water provided to residents or businesses is safe for consumption and meets regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the RTW system equipment
- Regulate water flow and pressure using pumps, valves, and control systems
- Monitor and test water quality to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Adjust chemical treatment processes to maintain water quality
- Maintain accurate records of the RTW system operations and maintenance activities; Present records and reports to RTW Board at a minimum of monthly board meetings.
- Perform routine maintenance of equipment and systems
- Respond to water system emergencies and perform repairs as needed
- Ensure the RTW system meets all safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform any other task as assigned.
Requirements:
- Require a valid state water operator certification
- Knowledge of water system operations, equipment, and control systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong attention to detail
- Abilit to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to respond within one hour of when the emergency is declared
